Illinois-Chicago at Northwestern 2:00 PM ET
Northwestern looks to build off an improved defensive effort as it continues to prepare for Big Ten play when UIC pays a visit Monday. The Wildcats limited Western Michigan to 38.8 percent shooting overall after a hot start to rally for a 67-61 victory Saturday and will try to improve to 3-1 on their five-game homestand against the struggling Flames. Northwestern also will lean on guard Tre Demps, who averaged 16 points in the past two wins, and the inside presence of 7-0 center Alex Olah.
Stetson at Florida St. 2:00 PM ET
The only thing consistent about Florida State 11 games into the season is the team’s inconsistency. The Seminoles are 6-5 but don’t have a win streak longer than two games or a losing skid of more than three as they prepare to host Stetson on Monday. It will be the final game before Christmas and the only contest this week for the two Sunshine State programs.
Dartmouth at Penn St. 4:00 PM ET
At 11-1 with nine straight wins, Penn State is on a roll, but coach Patrick Chambers knows a big challenge awaits. It’s not so much Monday’s opponent, visiting Dartmouth, but the holiday looming later this week. It will be the Nittany Lions’ final game before Christmas and a nine-day break between contests.
DePaul at Colorado 4:30 PM ET
Colorado rebounded from a non-conference two-game skid with its best offensive performance of the season in its last time out. With eight full days off between games, the Buffaloes hope they are well-rested as they begin a stretch of three games in four days in the first round of the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu against DePaul. Colorado set season highs in points, 3-pointers (12), field-goal percentage (63.3) and free-throw percentage (82.6) in a rout of Northern Colorado 93-68 on Dec. 13.
Citadel at Michigan St 6:00 PM ET
Michigan State can expect to drop out of the Top 25 as it attempts to bounce back from a shocking loss in Monday's home game against The Citadel. On paper, it shapes up as a mismatch for the Spartans, but the same held true Saturday, when Texas Southern stunned No. 22 Michigan State in overtime. "I'm going to find out what the NCAA will legally allow me to practice (Sunday), and then I'm going to probably exceed it," Spartans coach Tom Izzo said.
Miami (OH) at Ohio St. 6:00 PM ET
Miami (OH) just snapped a six-game losing streak, and its reward for the accomplishment is a game at No. 12 Ohio State on Monday. The Buckeyes should be plenty motivated to put on a good show after falling to North Carolina in Chicago on Saturday. Ohio State was operating one of the most efficient offenses in the country prior to the weekend – shooting 53.7 percent from the field – but was held to 34.7 percent by the Tar Heels.
Gardner-Webb at Purdue 6:00 PM ET
Purdue will try to recover from a woeful second-half performance against an in-state rival when it hosts Gardner-Webb on Monday. The Boilermakers were in a dogfight with then-No. 21 Notre Dame in the Crossroads Classic in Indianapolis on Saturday before falling apart in what resulted in a 94-63 loss. Three Boilermakers scored 11 points as they suffered their second straight loss following an 8-2 start.
Colgate at Syracuse 7:00 PM ET
If the season's first month was any indication, Syracuse may be spending its postseason in the NIT. Still, despite his team having lost three of its last four games, Jim Boeheim refuses to think that far ahead, as the 70-year-old coach remains focused on Monday's home date with Colgate. "I'm not worried about (the NCAA Tournament)," Boeheim said after Saturday's overtime loss to No. 7 Villanova. "I'm not even thinking about that. I'm thinking about playing Colgate."
Mercer at Tennessee 7:00 PM ET
Tennessee will continue to make the best of the pieces it has when the Volunteers host Mercer on Monday. The Volunteers have won three of their last four despite playing with an undersized frontcourt and without a true point guard. "It is hard when you don't have a go-to guy to throw that ball down (in the post) in hopes that he draws a foul or gets an easy bucket or collapses the defense," coach Donnie Tyndall said after Friday's comeback win against Tennessee Tech.
Florida A&M at East Carolina 7:00 PM ET
A game Monday against visiting Florida A&M is just what East Carolina needs coming off one of its poorest offensive performances of the season. The Pirates shot 28 percent in falling to UNC Wilmington on Friday, but a game with the Rattlers, who allow opponents to shoot 49.3 percent, should allow Jeff Lebo's team to turn it around. "We could not score," Lebo told the media after the loss.
Tenn-Martin at Butler 7:00 PM ET
Butler tries to bounce back from the disappointment of a loss to an in-state rival when it hosts UT Martin on Monday. The No. 25 Bulldogs lost to Indiana 82-73 on Saturday in the Crossroads Classic in Indianapolis while allowing a season high in points. Butler concludes the non-conference portion of its regular season versus Belmont on Sunday before opening its Big East slate with a pair of tough road games against No. 7 Villanova and No. 23 St. John's.
Oakland at Clemson 7:00 PM ET
The work in progress that is Clemson continues Monday when the Tigers host Oakland, looking to shake off a disappointing 23-point loss to in-state rival South Carolina on Friday. Clemson looked sharp in posting back-to-back victories over No. 18 Arkansas (in overtime) and Auburn before scoring just 15 second-half points and shooting 29.8 percent overall against the Gamecocks. “We’re still learning how to play,” Tigers coach Brad Brownell admitted after the loss.
Kansas at Temple 7:00 PM ET
Kansas looks to keep its hot streak going into the holidays when the 10th-ranked Jayhawks travel to Temple on Monday. The Jayhawks have won eight straight — their longest streak since an 18-game run in 2012-13 — and are coming off a 96-69 rout of Lafayette on Saturday after winning their previous four games by a combined 19 points. Temple is 5-0 at home but all five games have been played at Liacouras Center, while Monday's contest is set for the Wells Fargo Center.
Bucknell at Wake Forest 7:00 PM ET
Wake Forest will look to recover from a run of four losses in its last five games when it hosts Bucknell on Monday. The Demon Deacons will be without the services of guard Mitchell Wilbekin, who sat out the first of what could be up to a six-game suspension after an undisclosed NCAA violation. Wake Forest plans to appeal the suspension, with athletic director Ron Wellman announcing in a statement, "We believe in Mitchell Wilbekin."
Southeastern Louisiana at Central Florida 7:00 PM ET
UCF looks to take a little momentum into American Athletic Conference play with a second straight victory when it hosts Southeastern Louisiana on Monday night. The Knights, who start league action on New Year’s Eve against Tulsa, snapped a three-game slide with a 75-70 victory over Detroit on Wednesday with a sharp-shooting effort. UCF’s freshman guard duo of B.J. Taylor and Adonys Henriquez face a tough challenge against a productive Southeastern Louisiana backcourt.
Northern Illinois at Notre Dame 7:00 PM ET
With the most efficient offense in the nation, No. 21 Notre Dame looks to continue an impressive early-season run when Northern Illinois visits Monday. The Fighting Irish lead the nation in field-goal percentage (55.3), turn the ball over less than nine times a game and rank 15th in 3-point shooting (41.3), all adding up to 129.6 points per 100 possessions - easily the best mark in college basketball. Notre Dame enters the game off a 94-63 demolition of Purdue on Saturday.
VMI at Virginia Tech 7:00 PM ET
Virginia Tech has survived an up-and-down non-conference slate with some quality defense, but that will be put to the test Monday against high-scoring Virginia Military Institute. The Hokies have held six straight opponents and nine out of 10 overall under 70 points after a 64-61 home win against The Citadel on Saturday. It was the fourth straight time Virginia Tech - which has held foes to a 39.9 percent shooting percentage - has been involved in a game decided by 10 points or fewer.
New Orleans at Indiana 7:00 PM ET
Indiana looks to build off its win over No. 25 Butler when it hosts New Orleans on Monday. The Hoosiers knocked off the Bulldogs 82-73 to hand coach Tom Crean his 300th career win and they turn their attention to securing their third straight victory after falling 94-74 to No. 4 Louisville on Dec. 9. "We've made a lot of progress since the Louisville game in mindset, will, tenacity," Crean told reporters. "... A lot of learning for us to do in a short period of time before we play New Orleans."
Wofford at West Virginia 7:30 PM ET
West Virginia aims for its fourth straight victory when the 20th-ranked Mountaineers host upset-minded Wofford on Monday. The Mountaineers are a one-point loss to LSU from being among the nation's dwindling number of unbeaten teams. Wofford has reached the NCAA Tournament in three of the past five seasons, but the Terriers have never taken down a top-25 team — they're 0-19 against ranked opponents.
Long Beach St. at St. John's 7:30 PM ET
No. 23 St. John's puts a five-game winning streak on the line when it concludes a four-game home stretch Monday night against Long Beach State. The Red Storm are 6-0 at Carnesecca Arena this season, including a 53-47 comeback win over Saint Mary's on Friday night. A victory would give St. John's its first 10-1 start to a season since the 1990-91 season under Hall of Fame head coach Lou Carnesecca.
Columbia at Connecticut 7:30 PM ET
Kevin Ollie is going through one of his roughest stretches in three years as the coach at Connecticut, which will try to get back on the winning track on Monday when it faces Columbia in Bridgeport, Conn. The Huskies have dropped four of five since opening the season 3-0, although two of the losses have come by a point. Their latest setback – Thursday’s 66-56 loss to No. 2 Duke in East Rutherford, N.J – had leading scorer Ryan Boatright demanding improvement.
SE Missouri St. at Mississippi 8:00 PM ET
Ole Miss will be more than happy to get away from home, even if its a quick trip to the Landers Center in Southaven for Monday's game against SE Missouri State in the Jack Jones Classic. The Rebels have had their troubles at home, losing to teams they should beat, which was almost the case again Thursday against Coastal Carolina.
Furman at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
Minnesota looks to extend its winning streak to seven games when it hosts Furman on Monday. The Golden Gophers have been red-hot, winning their last five by double digits and averaging a 23-point margin of victory over that span. Conversely, the Paladins have been going the other way, dropping three in a row and six of their last seven - with five of those six losses coming on the road.
Pennsylvania at Vanderbilt 8:00 PM ET
Vanderbilt has run its offense at will for most of the season, but after posing a season low in points in Saturday’s loss to Georgia Tech, the Commodores return home Monday to host Pennsylvania seeking more aggressiveness. “I don’t think we ran real good offense,” Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings told reporters after Saturday’s 65-60 defeat. “We didn’t play particularly well on either end of the floor.”
Weber St. at Oklahoma 8:00 PM ET
Despite Saturday's close loss to a quality Washington team, Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger offered a blunt assessment of his players' progress. "There's a lot to be learned on both ends," the veteran coach told the media after his team dug a 20-point hole in an eventual 69-67 defeat. The 15th-ranked Sooners hope to clean up their play Monday when they host Weber State in their penultimate non-conference contest before Big 12 play.
Coppin St. at Michigan 8:00 PM ET
Michigan has lost four straight games for the first time since January 2011, so it’s understandable that some players are feeling the pressure heading into Monday’s contest against visiting Coppin State. “I think guys are overthinking a little bit, myself included,” guard Caris LeVert told reporters. “We’ve just got to go out there and play.” The relaxed approach might help snap an offensive slump that has seen the Wolverines shoot 35 percent or lower in each of their last three games.
Incarnate Word at Tulsa 8:00 PM ET
After fledgling Division I school Incarnate Word shocked Nebraska earlier in the season, the Cardinals won't catch anyone by surprise again. Tulsa will get their full attention when they host the upstart program on Monday night. The Hurricanes snapped a two-game skid by defeating Missouri State 74-70 last time out.
North Florida at Iowa 8:00 PM ET
With losses to in-state foes in each of its previous two games, Iowa hosts North Florida on Monday in its final warmup before the start of Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes were upset by Northern Iowa last time out, leaving the team no choice but to face the reality of having to rally together as conference play looms. "We know there are going to be naysayers," forward Aaron White told reporters. "But we have to stay together and fight through this little spell we're in."
Southern at Baylor 8:00 PM ET
Baylor seeks to improve to 7-0 at home this season when Southern visits Monday night. Without departed standouts Cory Jefferson, Isaiah Austin, Brady Heslip and Gary Franklin, Bears coach Scott Drew has focused on defense this season, joining Virginia as the only teams in the Power 5 conferences to hold all opponents to 65 or fewer points this season. Southern enters averaging 63.3 points per game and hasn't beaten a Division I team this season.
Grambling State at Texas Christian 8:00 PM ET
TCU puts its undefeated record on the line when the Horned Frogs host struggling Grambling State on Monday. Third-year coach Trent Johnson is only worried about his team getting healthy and improving as Big 12 play looms. "We've got a long way to go but I'm pleased in my own way," Johnson said after Saturday's win. "We're satisfied because we're getting better and we're doing it without Amric (Fields) and Devonta (Abron) where they need to be healthwise."
Texas Tech at Loyola-Chicago 8:00 PM ET
Texas Tech puts its eight-game win streak on the line Monday when it meets Loyola Chicago in the semifinals of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic. The Red Raiders leave Lubbock for the first time since a 69-64 loss at LSU in overtime on Nov. 18 - their only loss - after defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 72-51 on Friday. Texas Tech has received major contributions from its bench all season, including 36 points Friday after coach Tubby Smith started three freshmen.
North Dakota at Marquette 9:00 PM ET
Marquette looks for its third straight victory Monday as it hosts struggling North Dakota, which has lost four of its last six contests. The Golden Eagles have been scoring well lately, averaging 81 points in their last two games after a 38-point showing against Wisconsin. North Dakota has had its troubles on the road, going 1-4 in games played away from Grand Forks.
Wisconsin at California 9:00 PM ET
California, off to its best start in 55 years, faces its toughest test of the young season Monday when the Golden Bears host No. 6 Wisconsin. Point guard Tyrone Wallace has sparked the Golden Bears’ surprising run by leading the team in scoring (19.5), rebounding (8.9), assists (4.4) and steals (1.3). “Wallace is a pro; he might be the best guard we play all year,” Badgers assistant coach Gary Close told reporters. “He can score every way imaginable but he’s unselfish.”
Wis.-Milwaukee at Arkansas 9:00 PM ET
Arkansas puts a 23-game nonconference home win streak on the line Monday night when it hosts Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Razorbacks have won two in a row since suffering back-to-back road losses at Iowa State (95-77) and in overtime at Clemson (68-65). The visiting Panthers, who won 10 road games a year ago, are still in search of their first road victory this season and are coming in off a 61-56 loss at SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday.
Charleston at Louisiana State 9:00 PM ET
LSU has won five straight games after an up-and-down start and looks to continue gaining confidence before the SEC campaign begins when it hosts Charleston on Monday. The Tigers boast a victory over No. 20 West Virginia and have averaged 78.8 points during their winning streak with three home games left before they start league play. LSU has made it difficult on its opponents with five players averaging in double figures scoring, but Josh Gray (11.1) is questionable with an ankle injury.
UC Santa Barbara at Oregon 9:00 PM ET
Oregon replaced three starters in its most recent game and the move seemed to pay off, so expect the Ducks to continue in that direction when they host UC Santa Barbara on Monday. Oregon coach Dana Altman inserted Jalil Abdul-Bassitt, Jordan Bell and Casey Benson into the starting five and they combined for 26 points in the 83-70 victory over visiting Delaware State. Altman reportedly wasn’t’ happy with the slow starts Oregon was getting off to during games.
Miami-Florida at Providence 9:00 PM ET
Less than three weeks ago, Miami (Fla.) was 8-0 with wins over Florida and Illinois, but now the Hurricanes are on the verge of entering panic mode. The team's last three games have included two home losses - a 13-point defeat to Green Bay and a disheartening 72-44 loss to Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. Jim Larranaga's team has a long way to go to rebuild its confidence, but a victory over Providence on Monday at the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational would be a good start.
Boise St. at Houston 10:30 PM ET
Houston tries to snap a two-game losing streak when it meets Boise State on Monday in the semifinals of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational. The Cougars are coming off a 71-63 loss to South Carolina State on Saturday in which Houston sophomore Danrad Knowles recorded 22 points and 11 rebounds for his first career double-double. The Cougars are among the worst shooting teams in the country at 37.7 percent, but entered Sunday 31st in the nation at 40.4 rebounds per game.
Tulane at Washington 11:00 PM ET
It might be time to stop asking if Washington is for real. The 16th-ranked Huskies, one of nine remaining unbeaten teams in Division I, enter Monday’s contest against visiting Tulane with a stellar backcourt and an imposing frontline led by 7-foot center Robert Upshaw, a transfer from Fresno State who leads the nation with 45 blocks. The Huskies can add to their impressive nonconference run with a win over Tulane, which has won nine straight following a season-opening loss to Wake Forest.
Loyola Marymount at Wichita St. 11:00 PM ET
Wichita State should be considered the favorite to win the Diamond Head Classic when the No. 11 Shockers open the tournament Monday against Loyola Marymount in Honolulu. Wichita State is the only ranked participant in the eight-team tournament, which concludes with the championship game on Christmas Day. The Shockers don’t have anyone taller than 6-7 in their starting lineup, but rather rely on pressure defense to generate easy points on the other end.
UC Riverside at San Diego St. 11:00 PM ET
San Diego State attempts to corral its 21st consecutive home victory when UC Riverside visits on Monday. The No. 23 Aztecs are just 2-2 over their last four games but the losses came on the road to Washington and Cincinnati. San Diego State posted a 70-57 win over Ball State on Saturday and the postgame dialogue included chatter that the team hasn’t played up to expectations during the early part of the season.
Nebraska at Hawaii 11:59 PM ET
Nebraska is coming off back-to-back one-point games for the first time in 14 years and will be looking for an easier experience Monday when the Cornhuskers meet host Hawaii on the opening day of the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu. Nebraska bounced back from an embarrassing loss Wednesday against visiting Incarnate Word to beat a solid Cincinnati team in double overtime Saturday. It wasn’t a pretty victory as the Cornhuskers committed 22 turnovers, their most in three seasons.
