Preview Roundups
November 23, 2016
Wichita St. at Louisiana State 12:00 PM ET
The post-Ben Simmons era is off to a solid start for LSU, which aims to remain undefeated Wednesday against Wichita State. This is the opening game of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas with both teams back on the court Thursday.
Cleveland St. at Kentucky 1:00 PM ET
Blue-chip recruits are usually winners before they arrive on a college campus, so No. 1 Kentucky isn't fazed by its early season success as it hosts Cleveland State on Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats' John Calipari is still learning about his team, which won its first four games by an average of 25.5 points, but one thing is certain: He's one of only a handful of coaches who have a legitimate shot at winning the NCAA Tournament.
Tennessee at Chaminade 2:00 PM ET
Tennessee has played two solid games against ranked teams at the Maui Invitational, but the Volunteers don't have any wins to show for it - something they hope to change against tournament host Chaminade in Wednesday's seventh-place game. Tennessee briefly led No. 14 Wisconsin in the second half of Monday's tournament opener before losing by 12 points, then came back and pushed No. 12 Oregon to overtime Tuesday before losing 69-65.
Baylor at VCU 2:30 PM ET
Baylor's status in the rankings certainly could change with a good showing at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas. The Bears are ranked No. 20 in the Associated Press poll but remain unranked in the coaches' poll heading into Wednesday's matchup with VCU.
The Citadel at Arizona State 4:00 PM ET

After a disappointing showing in this past weekend’s Tire Pros Invitational, Arizona State returns home Wednesday to host The Citadel. Both teams are 3-2, but the Sun Devils have lost two of their last three games while the Bulldogs have won three of four.

Oregon at Connecticut 4:30 PM ET
Dillon Brooks is beginning to look more comfortable on the floor and he'll try to help No. 12 Oregon end the Maui Invitational on a high note when the Ducks face Connecticut in Wednesday's fifth-place game at the Lahaina Civic Center. Brooks, who led Oregon in scoring (16.7) and assists (3.1) last season, made his season debut in the first round Monday, but the Ducks were upset by Georgetown before they survived with an overtime win Tuesday against Tennessee.

Michigan at South Carolina 5:00 PM ET
No. 24 Michigan looks to continue its winning ways when it hits the road to face South Carolina on Wednesday. The Wolverines have exceeded expectations by beating Marquette 79-61 and SMU 76-54 en route to winning the 2K Classic in New York City and earning a spot in the Top 25 for the first time in over a year.
Texas Tech at Utah St. 6:00 PM ET
Texas Tech will hope for a better start when it takes on Utah State in the third-place game at the Cancun Challenge in Mexico on Wednesday. The Red Raiders dropped a semifinal affair against Auburn on Tuesday despite a furious late comeback that nearly erased a 19-point deficit.
Samford at Cincinnati 7:00 PM ET
Cincinnati looks to keep its perfect record within its city limits intact when it hosts Samford in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday. The Bearcats are 2-0 at home in Fifth Third Arena, compared to a 1-1 mark in neutral site games, but six of the team’s next eight contests will be at home.
Michigan St at St. John's 7:00 PM ET
Since Michigan State and St. John's last met, Tom Izzo and Chris Mullin have crafted resumes worthy of the Naismith Hall of Fame. Two of the seven Hall of Famers actively coaching at the Division I level match wits for the first time in their careers Wednesday when the 20th-ranked Spartans face the Red Storm in the opening round of Battle 4 Atlantis inside the Imperial Arena at Nassau, Bahamas.
Jackson State at Ohio St. 7:00 PM ET
Ohio State is off to a 4-0 start and coming off its most lopsided win in nearly two years. But head coach Thad Matta says there is definitely room for improvement heading into Wednesday night's non-conference home game with Jackson State.
Colgate at Penn St. 7:00 PM ET
Penn State coach Patrick Chambers said he was looking for progress this past weekend from his young team when it played ranked squads Duke and Cincinnati in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament.  The Nittany Lions provided him with mixed results and will hopefully apply what they learned when Colgate arrives to renew an old rivalry Wednesday.
William & Mary at Duke 7:00 PM ET
Duke is no longer owner of the top spot in the rankings but the No. 3 Blue Devils look poised to collect their fifth victory of the season when they host William & Mary on Wednesday in a nonconference affair. Duke suffered a loss to Kansas last week that led to the loss of the No. 1 ranking despite bouncing back with consecutive 10-point victories over Penn State and Rhode Island.
Charleston at Villanova 7:00 PM ET
Second-ranked Villanova is intent on defending its national championship and is unbeaten through five games as it entertains the College of Charleston in Wednesday's nonconference game. The Wildcats are 24-0 in November over the past four seasons and this season's strong start includes victories over Purdue and Wake Forest.
North Texas at Rutgers 7:00 PM ET
There are plenty of reasons Rutgers can feel good about being 4-0 as it hosts North Texas on Wednesday with a shot at matching its best start in 15 seasons. The Scarlet Knights have used a complete team effort to remain as one of only six unbeaten teams in the Big Ten.
Coastal Carolina at Wake Forest 7:30 PM ET

Danny Manning’s rebuilding project at Wake Forest has reached the point at which he can call the team his own, and the payoff is beginning. The Demon Deacons hope to continue their early-season momentum when they host Coastal Carolina on Wednesday.

Vermont at Houston 7:30 PM ET
Houston heads into Wednesday's championship game of the Gulf Coast Showcase against Vermont still looking to be truly tested for 40 minutes after beating its first three foes by an average of 35 points. The Cougars routed South Dakota 85-58 in Tuesday's semifinals in Estero, Fla., while the Catamounts raced out to a 21-point halftime lead en route to an 87-73 victory against Hofstra.
Georgetown at Oklahoma St. 7:30 PM ET
Oklahoma State looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season in Wednesday’s third-place game of the Maui Invitational against Georgetown, which was dominated on the boards by Wisconsin in Tuesday’s semifinals. The Hoyas were outrebounded by 29 in the 73-57 loss to the Badgers, while Oklahoma State fell 107-75 to fourth-ranked North Carolina.
Missouri St. at DePaul 8:00 PM ET
After a rough start to the season, Billy Garrett Jr. has found the range for DePaul, which hosts untested Missouri State on Wednesday. Garrett made six field goals - double the amount from his first two games combined - and produced season highs in points, rebounds and assists as the Blue Demons handled Milwaukee Sunday for their second victory.
Auburn at Purdue 8:30 PM ET
Purdue utilized a potent inside-outside attack to cruise in the semifinals of the Cancun Challenge and it will put that plan to work once more in the title game against Auburn on Wednesday. While the bulk of the Boilermakers were cold, the tandem of guard Dakota Mathias and center Isaac Haas was on fire in an 85-64 win over Utah State at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Mexico on Tuesday.
Louisville at Old Dominion 9:30 PM ET
Although it ended its first foray in the Battle 4 Atlantis as a runner-up, Louisville would not finish in second place again in any tournament for the rest of the 2012-13 season. The 10th-ranked Cardinals hope the next late November trip to the Imperial Arena at Nassau, Bahamas, paves the way for another national championship when they begin play at the event Wednesday against Old Dominion.
Saint Louis at Alabama 9:30 PM ET
Alabama head coach Avery Johnson entered the Las Vegas Main Event hoping to have a chance to challenge for the heavyweight belt - but poor shooting against Valparaiso left his team flat on its back. Now the Crimson Tide have to pick themselves off the canvas for Wednesday's third-place showdown with Saint Louis at the MGM Grand.
Wisconsin at North Carolina 9:30 PM ET
North Carolina’s stellar frontcourt faces its toughest test of the young season Wednesday as the fourth-ranked Tar Heels face No. 14 Wisconsin in the Maui Invitational championship game. Both teams advanced following impressive efforts Tuesday as the Tar Heels posted a 107-75 win over Oklahoma State and Wisconsin dominated the boards in a 73-57 victory over Georgetown.
