Preview Roundups
February 28, 2018
Illinois at Iowa 5:30 PM ET
Illinois dropped its first eight Big Ten games to tie a dubious school record, and perhaps none of those defeats stung quite as much as the one it suffered last month against Iowa. The 13th-seeded Fighting Illini will seek some payback Wednesday when they meet the 12th-seeded Hawkeyes in the first round of the Big Ten tournament at New York's Madison Square Garden in a rematch of the highest-scoring game in the league this season.
Louisiana State at South Carolina 6:30 PM ET

Two teams looking to improve their seeding for the SEC tournament – and their chances of making a deeper run in St. Louis – square off Wednesday, when South Carolina hosts LSU. The Tigers are tied for ninth in the league standings, one game ahead of the 12th-place Gamecocks.

Providence at Xavier 6:30 PM ET
That No. 4 Xavier didn't need a solid effort from its leading scorer in a tough road win over Georgetown bodes well for the conference leaders. But they'd love nothing more than to see Trevon Bluiett bounce back in a big way Wednesday night - especially considering that a victory over visiting Providence would give the Musketeers their first ever Big East title.
Pittsburgh at Notre Dame 7:00 PM ET
Notre Dame will receive an emotional boost Wednesday as leading scorer Bonzie Colson will return to the lineup as the Fighting Irish host Pittsburgh in their final home game of the season. Colson, who has been out since Jan. 4 with a foot injury, will be in the starting lineup for senior night but how much he plays will be determined by how he progressed in practices Monday and Tuesday.
Mississippi at Kentucky 7:00 PM ET
Kentucky is back in the national rankings and riding a three-game winning streak into Wednesday's SEC contest against visiting Ole Miss as the No. 25 Wildcats appear to be hitting their best stride at the right time. Kentucky defeated Missouri 87-66 on Saturday and is among six teams vying for the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds in the SEC Tournament and the double-bye into the quarterfinals that come with them.
Temple at Connecticut 7:00 PM ET
Temple still has an outside shot of playing its way into the NCAA Tournament, but it will need a strong finish starting with Wednesday night's road game against Connecticut. Winners of eight of their last 11, the Owls will look to complete a sweep of the Huskies before closing out the regular season at No. 11 Wichita State on Sunday.
Rutgers at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
When Minnesota routed Rutgers in the Big Ten opener for both teams in early December, coach Richard Pitino's squad appeared quite capable of living up to the hype it had generated as a dark-horse candidate to win the conference. The 11th-seeded Golden Gophers haven't come close to matching their early form since, but they will try to keep their season alive Wednesday when they meet the 14th-seeded Scarlet Knights in the first round of the Big Ten tournament at New York's Madison Square Garden.
Texas A&M at Georgia 8:30 PM ET

Texas A&M seeks a second consecutive road victory when it visits Georgia for a matchup that will help sort out the seeding for the SEC tournament. The Aggies and Bulldogs are among three teams tied for ninth place and trying to earn first-round byes in the conference event.

Villanova at Seton Hall 8:30 PM ET
No. 5 Villanova is still in good shape to earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but its margin for error is getting thin. With an uncharacteristic 3-3 record in their last six games, the Wildcats look to return to form Wednesday at Seton Hall.
Florida State at Clemson 9:00 PM ET
No. 18 Clemson is looking to make history Wednesday when Florida State comes to town on the heels of its 92-72 loss at North Carolina State. The Tigers, out to avenge their 81-79 overtime loss to the Seminoles two weeks ago, need one more regular-season victory to record their first-ever 11-win ACC season as they battle for a bye into the ACC Tournament quarterfinals with a top-four finish in the conference standings.
Syracuse at Boston College 9:00 PM ET
Syracuse missed two big opportunities to give its NCAA Tournament resume a big boost, and can ill afford another letdown when it visits Boston College for an ACC tilt Wednesday night. Consecutive losses to No. 9 North Carolina and No. 3 Duke delivered a hit to the Orange's bubble status, and they've lost five of their last eight overall.
Houston at Southern Methodist 9:00 PM ET
Houston heads to short-handed SMU on Wednesday off a monster performance that clinched a first-round bye in the American Athletic Conference tournament. The season hasn't been nearly as kind to the Mustangs, who have lost six of seven.
Butler at St. John's 9:00 PM ET
Butler may have clinched an NCAA Tournament bid in its last two games with impressive victories, but can add some insurance when it pays a visit to dangerous St. John’s on Wednesday for a Big East contest. The Bulldogs knocked off Providence on Feb. 17 and routed No. 24 Creighton 93-70 three days later before getting a much-needed rest as they prepare to end the regular season with two road games.
Nevada at UNLV 11:00 PM ET
Nevada cut down the nets after Sunday's home win over Colorado State which garnered the 21st-ranked Wolf Pack at least a share of a second consecutive Mountain West regular season championship as well as the No. 1 seed for next week's conference tourney in Las Vegas. But even though his team has just seven players on scholarship including two that are battling injuries, Nevada coach Eric Musselman scoffed at the notion of resting some players for Wednesday night's game at UNLV.
