Memphis at Tulsa 7:00 PM ET
The American Athletic Conference has been more than welcoming of Tulsa, which can remain unbeaten in league play with a victory Wednesday against visiting Memphis. The Golden Hurricane, behind two-time conference Player of the Week James Woodard, have won seven straight games, including five in conference. The junior had back-to-back 21-point efforts as Tulsa knocked off USF and defending national champion Connecticut to remain the lone unbeaten team in the AAC.
Penn St. at Michigan St 7:00 PM ET
Michigan State has been far from its usual dominant self this season, but better days could be just around the corner. After delivering what coach Tom Izzo called an “awful” effort over the weekend, the Spartans begin a 10-game stretch in which they will face only unranked opponents on Wednesday when they host Penn State. Michigan State fell to 1-5 against current top-25 foes following Saturday’s 75-59 loss at then-No. 11 Maryland – the team’s largest margin of defeat since 2011.
Marquette at St. John's 7:00 PM ET
St. John's once-promising season is unraveling in a hurry. The Red Storm have lost four of their last five games and face Duke on Sunday, meaning that Wednesday's home game with Marquette is a key opportunity for a much-needed victory. The Golden Eagles have alternated wins and losses in six straight games and have surpassed 60 points only once in their last five contests.
Missouri at Texas A&M 7:00 PM ET
Texas A&M missed leading scorer and rebounder Jalen Jones in dropping its first two SEC games, but the return of the junior guard has sparked the Aggies to back-to-back victories. Jones, who has averaged 17 points in victories over Mississippi State and LSU since recovering from an ankle injury, will look to help push Texas A&M above .500 in conference play Wednesday when it hosts struggling Missouri. The Tigers have lost three straight league contests and are tied for last in the conference.
Houston at Cincinnati 7:00 PM ET
Houston, still in search of its first American Athletic Conference victory, travels to Cincinnati on Wednesday to play a Bearcats squad that has dominated the series. Cincinnati is 24-1 all-time against the Cougars, including 12-0 at home. The Bearcats have also won 12 straight in a series that includes games played in Conference USA (1996 to 2005) and the Missouri Valley Conference (1958-60).
North Carolina at Wake Forest 7:00 PM ET
North Carolina has won three straight and eight of nine behind its imposing front line and will face a team nearly as good on the glass when it visits Wake Forest on Wednesday. The 15th-ranked Tar Heels built up a 49-22 rebounding advantage over Virginia Tech last time out and lead the ACC in rebounding behind Brice Johnson and Kennedy Meeks. Demon Deacons forward Devin Thomas is a beast on the glass as well but has a harder time getting his team wins.
Indiana St. at Northern Iowa 8:00 PM ET
Riding a five-game win streak, No. 19 Northern Iowa looks to break a second-place tie in the Missouri Valley Conference standings Wednesday when it hosts Indiana State. The Panthers have waxed their last five opponents after starting MVC play with a loss at Evansville, winning by an average of almost 15 points in that span. Guard Deon Mitchell credited the defense after a win over Missouri State on Sunday, telling reporters, "Our defense has been improving. We're just playing more aggressive."
Huston-Tillotson at Baylor 8:00 PM ET
Baylor steps out of the rigors of Big 12 play when it hosts NAIA member Huston-Tillotson on Wednesday. The No. 21 Bears, who are one of six conference teams ranked in the USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll, are coming off a 63-61 loss at Kansas State on Saturday after defeating No. 12 Iowa State 74-73 on Jan. 14.
Wichita St. at Missouri St. 8:05 PM ET
Prior to losing to Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament last season, Wichita State had beaten all 35 of its opponents - and only one of those wins came in overtime. The 13th-ranked Shockers return to the scene of that contest Wednesday when they visit Missouri State in a Missouri Valley Conference tilt. Wichita State rallied from a 19-point second-half deficit on Jan. 11, 2014 en route to a 72-69 victory over the Bears, thanks in large part to 22 points and 14 rebounds from Cleanthony Early.
Purdue at Illinois 9:00 PM ET
Halftime deficits have proven to be a minor obstacle lately for Purdue, which used its latest second-half rally to get its first in Big Ten road win in over a year. The Boilermakers, who eye their second win in Illinois in as many years on Wednesday, used a game-tying 3-pointer from Kendall Stephens to force overtime over the weekend before pulling out an 84-77 win at Penn State. The victory ended a nine-game conference road skid that started after Purdue defeated the Illini on Jan. 15, 2014.
Mississippi St. at Auburn 9:00 PM ET
Mississippi State get a rare opportunity to start an SEC winning streak when it visits Auburn on Wednesday. The Bulldogs snapped a 16-game slide in regular-season conference games Saturday by knocking off Vanderbilt 57-54. They'll have to break another streak to beat the Tigers, however, as Mississippi State has dropped 22 straight games on the road.
Texas Tech at Oklahoma St. 9:00 PM ET
The Big 12 appears to be the deepest conference in the nation with six teams in the USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll, and two of the four unranked members meet Wednesday when recent dropout Oklahoma State hosts struggling Texas Tech. The Cowboys were one of seven Big 12 clubs in the Top 25 before losses at No. 14 Kansas 67-57 and at No. 20 Oklahoma 82-65 last week knocked them out.
Southern Methodist at Tulane 9:00 PM ET
SMU visits Tulane on Wednesday in an early season showdown for second place in the American Athletic Conference. The Mustangs certainly qualify as the hotter team, having won four straight and 12 of their last 13 overall. SMU, though, will be playing its second straight game without third-leading scorer Keith Frazier (10.5 points), who was ruled academically ineligible Friday.
Creighton at Butler 9:00 PM ET
Butler begins a home-heavy portion of its Big East schedule when it hosts league doormat Creighton on Wednesday. Including the visit by the Bluejays, the Bulldogs will play five of their next six games at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse, looking to build upon an 8-1 home record and potentially climb up the league standings. Butler tumbled into the middle of the pack with a tough 61-59 setback at Georgetown on Saturday despite a career-high 28 points by Roosevelt Jones.
Washington St. at Utah 9:00 PM ET
Utah looks to bounce back from an 18-point loss at Arizona on Wednesday when the 11th-ranked Utes host Washington State, which has already matched last season’s Pac-12 win total. The Utes were riding a seven-game winning streak before falling 69-51 to Arizona on Saturday, when they were outrebounded by 21 and outscored by 20 in the paint. “It was a good old-fashioned beat down,” Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak told reporters.
