Chiefs 24, Seahawks 20: Jamaal Charles rushed for a season-high 159 yards and scored two touchdowns as host Kansas City dispatched of Seattle for its fifth consecutive victory.

The Chiefs (7-3) registered two big stops in the fourth, forcing an incompletion on fourth-and-goal early in the quarter and later stuffing Marshawn Lynch on a fourth-and-1 run. Kansas City overcame two turnovers and only ran 46 plays but rode its defense to move into a first-place tie with Denver in the AFC West.

Russell Wilson passed for 178 yards and two touchdowns and Lynch rushed for 124 yards for the Seahawks (6-4), who had a three-game winning streak halted. Seattle’s last drive came up empty when Wilson threw an incompletion on fourth-and-19 with 1:13 remaining.

The Chiefs led 17-13 after Cairo Santos kicked a 23-yard field goal midway through the third quarter, but Seattle took the lead on Wilson’s 1-yard pass to former Chiefs tight end Tony Moeaki with 23 seconds left in the stanza. Charles broke loose on a 47-yard scamper early in the fourth to set up Knile Davis’ 4-yard run to give Kansas City a 24-20 edge.

The Chiefs drove 86 yards on 15 plays on their first drive of the game with Charles scoring from the 1 for a 7-0 lead. Doug Baldwin caught a 7-yard scoring pass from Wilson to tie it early in the second, but Charles answered with a 16-yard TD run before Steven Hauschka booted field goals of 24 and 27 yards as the Seahawks trailed 14-13 at the half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Seattle’s Ricardo Lockette was ejected late in the third quarter for punching Kansas City’s Kurt Coleman after a punt-return play, while C Max Unger (leg) was carted off in the fourth quarter. … The Chiefs remain the only NFL team to not allow a rushing touchdown. … Lynch recorded his second consecutive 100-yard outing and third of the season.
