North Carolina backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw two of his four touchdown passes to wide receiver Mack Hollins in the third quarter as the Tar Heels won their third game in a row by defeating Delaware 41-14 on Saturday at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Trubisky completed 17-of-20 passes for 312 yards, all career highs for the redshirt sophomore.

North Carolina, which won for the second time in three weeks against a Football Championship Subdivision opponent, is 3-1 for the first time since 2011.

Trubisky threw for touchdowns of 33 and 64 yards to Hollins. In the fourth quarter, wide receiver Bug Howard caught a 10-yard pass from Trubisky and wide receiver hauled in a 63-yard scoring strike.

Starting quarterback Marquise Williams ran 18 yards for North Carolina's first points. Nick Weiler field goals from 46 and 26 yards in the second quarter gave the Tar Heels a 13-7 halftime lead.

Delaware (1-3) scored first on running back Thomas Jefferson's 72-yard run on the second snap of the game. Jefferson's one-yard scoring run in the third quarter capped a 13-play, 80-yard drive.

The Blue Hens used rushing plays on their first 13 snaps (gaining 130 yards) before quarterback Joe Walker had his first pass intercepted by linebacker Jeff Schoettmer.

It was the first meeting between the schools.
