Platooning quarterbacks Will Grier and Treon Harris combined for four touchdown passes and a scoring run on Saturday night as Florida opened the Jim McElwain coaching era with a 61-13 rout of visiting New Mexico State in Gainesville, Fla.

Grier, a redshirt freshman, completed 15 of 17 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns and added 43 yards and a TD on the ground. Harris, a sophomore, finished 14 of 19 for 215 yards and two scores while rushing for 23 yards for the Gators (1-0), who posted their FBS-leading 26th straight season-opening win.

Florida rolled up total 606 total yards in posting the most points in a coach's debut in program history.

Tyler Rodgers finished 14 of 27 for 128 yards and a touchdown and Larry Rose III rushed 12 times for 64 yards and a score for the Aggies (0-1), who dropped their 11th straight game after a 2-0 start last season. New Mexico State also remained winless in 13 games against Southeastern Conference opponents.

The Aggies did pull to within 28-13 with 1:46 remaining in the first half on a 31-yard scoring strike from Rogers to Teldrick Morgan, but Greer and the Gators answered with a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive, capped by a 32-yard scoring reception from C'yontai Lewis with 24 seconds left before the break.

Florida then tacked on 27 second-half points to improve to 10-1 against current members of the Sun Belt Conference.
