Arkansas 31, Texas 7: Brandon Allen threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns and the Razorbacks held the Longhorns to a season-low 59 yards of total offense at the AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl in Houston.

Jonathan Williams rushed 23 times for 105 yards and a score while Demetrius Wilson and Keon Hatcher each caught touchdown passes for Arkansas (7-6), which won in its first bowl game since 2011. The Razorbacks’ defense limited the Longhorns to seven first downs and two rushing yards.

Tyrone Swoopes was 13-of-25 for 57 yards with an interception for Texas (6-7), which trailed 24-7 at the half after recording 46 total yards of offense. Malcolm Brown had seven carries for 25 yards while John Harris had four receptions for 36 yards.

Allen, who completed 12-of-23 passes, connected with Wilson on a 36-yard TD strike to put Arkansas ahead 10-0 early in the first quarter. The Razorbacks extended their lead when Taiwan Johnson scored after picking up a Johnathan Gray fumble in the Longhorns’ end zone, but Texas got on the board on Swoopes’ 9-yard TD run with 3:59 remaining in the half.

Allen gave the Razorbacks a 17-point lead at the break on a 5-yard TD pass to Hatcher, and the defense continued to dominate in the second half. Williams capped a 13-play, 57-yard drive with a 1-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter for Arkansas, which won the time of possession battle 41:10-18:50.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arkansas has outscored Texas 58-13 in its two all-time bowl meetings. The Razorbacks defeated the Longhorns at the 2000 Cotton Bowl 27-6. … Arkansas has won six straight games against Big 12 opponents. … Alex Collins rushed 17 times for 76 yards for the Razorbacks, who were 9-for-17 on third-down conversions.
