Texas State 37, Tulsa 34 (3 OT): Terrence Franks scored on a 2-yard run in the third overtime and the visiting Bobcats escaped with the non-conference victory.

Franks rushed for 71 yards and scored two touchdowns for Texas State (2-2). Bobcats quarterback Tyler Jones completed 21-of-31 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns, connecting eight times with tight end Bradley Miller for 112 yards.

Tulsa quarterback Dane Evans finished 23-of-40 for 234 yards and two touchdowns. James Flanders rushed for 112 yards and Zack Langer added 82 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Golden Hurricane (1-3).

Tulsa didn’t score a touchdown until the fourth quarter and then scored two, the last on a 1-yard run by Evans with 10 seconds left in regulation. Evans then found Keevan Lucas for a 10-yard touchdown pass on the first possession of overtime for a 24-17 lead.

Texas State converted two fourth downs on its first drive of overtime, the second a 5-yard TD pass from Jones to Jafus Gaines. Both teams scored touchdowns on their second overtime possession before Carl Salazar kicked a 31-yard field goal at the start of the third overtime to give Tulsa a 34-31 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tulsa was 3-for-4 on fourth-down conversions, including two on its final drive of regulation. … Tulsa punted on its first seven drives before Evans was intercepted in the end zone on the final play of the first half. … Texas State came in averaging 538 total yards per game - 14th best in the nation - and finished with 409 against Tulsa.
