Bowling Green 48, Virginia Military Institute 7: Travis Greene rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns as the Falcons won their sixth straight home opener.

James Knapke threw for 237 yards and a touchdown and Ryan Burbrink returned a punt 75 yards for a score as Bowling Green (1-1) bolted to a 28-0 lead en route to its ninth consecutive win over an FCS opponent.

Al Cobb threw for 224 yards and an interception for the Keydets (0-2), who were hurt by three turnovers. Backup quarterback Hayden Alford scored VMI's only TD on a 1-yard run while Doug Burton had five receptions for 86 yards.

Knapke capped a 71-yard drive with a 1-yard run before Burbrink's punt return made it 14-0 with 3 1/2 minutes left in the opening quarter. The Falcons broke it open with scoring drives of 86 and 88 yards, with Fred Coppet finishing the first with a 15-yard run before Greene dashed in from 21 yards out for a 28-0 cushion less than four minutes into the second quarter.

The Keydets, who dropped their opener to Bucknell, responded with a six-play, 69-yard scoring drive but Greene scored his second touchdown on a 7-yard run to make it 34-7 at halftime. Roger Lewis hauled in a 50-yard scoring strike in the fourth quarter and finished with six catches for 140 yards.
