BOXSCORE | RECAP
Missouri 41, Oklahoma State 31
When: 7:30 PM ET, Friday, January 3, 2014
Where: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas
Temperature: Dome
Head Official: Bill LeMonnier
Attendance: 72690

No. 9 Missouri 41, No. 13 Oklahoma State 31: Henry Josey rushed for 92 yards and three touchdowns and Shane Ray returned a fumble 73 yards to seal it as the Tigers survived a wild fourth quarter to win the AT&T Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas.

Michael Sam sacked and stripped Oklahoma State's Clint Chelf and Ray raced to the end zone to cap a frenetic fourth quarter in which the teams combined for a Cotton Bowl-record 41 points. Maty Mauk rushed for 73 yards on three carries and threw a touchdown pass in limited action for Missouri (12-2).

Chelf was 33-of-57 for 377 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 52 yards and a score, but he also threw a pair of interceptions and lost the key fumble late. Tracy Moore caught seven passes for 100 yards and Josh Stewart added eight catches for 80 yards and a touchdown for Oklahoma State (10-3).

Missouri starter James Franklin finished just 15-of-40 for 174 yards with an interception and contributed to two lost fumbles. Mauk replaced Franklin on the Tigers' first series of the second quarter and led a six-play, 80-yard drive capped by a perfectly placed 24-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Lucas for a 14-7 lead, and Missouri tacked on a field goal for a 17-7 halftime advantage.

The defenses dominated the third quarter with the only score coming on Chelf's 21-yard TD pass to Jhajuan Seales three plays after a botched handoff set up the Cowboys at the Missouri 33. The offenses sprang to life in the fourth, but the Tigers answered last, going up 34-31 on Josey's 16-yard TD run with 3:08 to play and sealing it with the sack and fumble in the final minute.

GAME NOTEBOOK: No Big 12 team has won the Cotton Bowl since Missouri beat Arkansas in 2008. … E.J. Gaines' interception in the first quarter extended Missouri's streak of consecutive games with a takeaway to 44, the longest current streak in the FBS. … Oklahoma State's Tyler Patmon picked off a Franklin pass and returned it for what would have been the go-ahead score early in the fourth quarter, but it was wiped out by a pass interference call and Missouri drove for a 46-yard field goal by Andrew Baggett and a 27-24 lead. Desmond Roland's 2-yard TD run less than 1 1/2 minutes later gave the Cowboys their final lead at 31-27.
