Arizona 58, UNLV 13: Ka'Deem Carey returned from suspension in sparkling fashion, running for 171 yards and two touchdowns to help the visiting Wildcats roll to victory.

Carey, the nation's leading rusher last season who sat out the opener because of offseason trouble, entered in the second quarter and scored on his first carry, exploding for 58 yards. He was far from finished, adding a 12-yard scoring run and averaging 10.7 yards per carry as the Wildcats improved to 2-0 with two blowout victories.

Arizona, which beat Northern Arizona 35-0 in its season opener, again shined on both sides of the ball. Quarterback B.J. Denker rushed for 63 yards and two scores to go with 81 yards through the air, and Jake Fischer and Tra'Mayne Bondurant returned interceptions for TDs as part of a strong defensive effort.

It was a rough night all around for the Runnin' Rebels, who seemed to mess up even when they made a rare nice play. Nick Sherry found Devante Davis on a 69-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter, but UNLV (0-2) botched the snap on the extra-point attempt.

Immediately after that score, Carey entered the game and soon was running away from the Rebels. The Wildcats had 478 yards of total offense — including 397 on the ground — compared to 282 total yards for UNLV, with most coming long after the game was decided.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bondurant returned an interception for a TD for the second week in a row and has three picks in two games. … Sherry failed to complete his first eight pass attempts and was only 6-of-22 overall for the Rebels. … UNLV RB Shaquille Murray-Lawrence, who ran for 104 yards on only four carries in a 51-23 loss at Minnesota, broke loose for a 79-yard run in the fourth quarter.
