When: 8:00 PM ET, Saturday, November 3, 2012
Where: Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Temperature: 75°
Head Official: Hubert Owens

No. 1 Alabama 21, No. 5 LSU 17: Running back T.J. Yeldon took a screen pass 28 yards for a touchdown with 51 seconds left to lift the visiting Crimson Tide over the stunned Tigers.

Zach Mettenberger threw for 298 yards and a touchdown to lead LSU back from a 14-3 halftime deficit. But after Drew Alleman missed a 45-yard field goal, AJ McCarron drove Alabama 72 yards for the game-winning score, finding Yeldon to beat an LSU blitz.

LSU (7-2, 3-2 SEC) grabbed a 17-14 lead early in the fourth quarter on Mettenberger’s 14-yard scoring pass to Jarvis Landry. The Tigers had converted four straight third downs en route to Jeremy Hill’s 1-yard third-quarter touchdown run. That was LSU’s first touchdown against Alabama in nearly three full games.

Alabama (9-0, 6-0 SEC) snapped LSU's 22-game home win streak despite allowing the Tigers to convert 10 of 20 third downs.

Down 3-0 in the second quarter, Alabama marched 92 yards for the go-ahead touchdown, a 7-yard Eddie Lacy run. It was his eighth rushing score this season. LSU had two chances to close the gap before halftime, but Alabama sniffed out LSU’s fake field goal try and Alleman later missed a 54-yard field goal.

GAME NOTEBOOK: LSU fell to 36-2 in Saturday night home games, and 5-2 following a scheduled open date under coach Les Miles. … Alabama has won four of the past six meetings and leads the all-time series 47-25-5. … LSU surprised Alabama with an onside kick in the third quarter, but the Tigers illegally touched the ball before it went 10 yards.
