Justin Tucker kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired to give visiting Texas a 27-25 win over Texas A&M in the Lone Star Showdown on Thursday.

The Aggies were called for an unnecessary roughness penalty on the winning drive and Case McCoy made the key play, scrambling for 25 yards to bring the Longhorns into field goal range with under 30 seconds to play.

Texas called timeout before Tucker booted his second field goal right down the middle.

The game marked the 118th meeting in one of the longest rivalries in college football. The rivalry is ending next season when Texas A&M moves to the SEC.

It looked as though Ryan Tannehill had given the Aggies the edge on the previous drive. After scrambling for a first down, Tannehill ripped a pass over the middle to Jeff Fuller, who was spun out at the 5-yard line but stayed on his feet, crashing down at the goal line and giving the Aggies a 25-24 lead with 1:48 to play.

But the Aggies could not make a two-point conversion, opening the door for Texas.

Tannehill was intercepted three times and completed just 20-of-49 passes.

His struggles allowed the Longhorns to get back into the game in the third quarter. Trailing, 16-7, at the half, Texas closed to 16-14 when Carrington Byndom returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown. Tannehill was intercepted again later in the third, with the Longhorns turning that mistake into a 1-yard touchdown run and a 24-16 lead.
