Kellen Moore threw four touchdowns passes - three to Tyler Shoemaker - as No. 11 Boise State rebounded from its first loss of the season to deliver a 52-35 victory over host San Diego State on Saturday.

Moore and the Broncos (9-1, 4-1 Mountain West) took advantage of three first-quarter turnovers by the Aztecs (6-4, 3-3) to build a quick 21-point lead to recover from last week’s 36-35 loss to TCU.

Moore threw touchdown passes of 5, 14 and 24 yards to Shoemaker as part of his fifth game with four or more touchdowns season this season. Moore has 134 career touchdown passes, tied for second all-time with Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell (2005-08).

Boise State’s first three touchdown drives were of 24, 10 and 23 yards as San Diego State turned the ball over on an interception, a fumbled punt and a fumbled kickoff in the first 10 minutes.

The Aztecs tallied second-quarter touchdowns on Adam Muena’s 81-yard scamper and Ryan Lindley’s 30-yard pass to Gavin Escobar, the latter pulling the Aztecs within 28-14. Doug Martin’s 10-yard scoring run and Shoemaker’s third touchdown catch gave the Broncos a 42-14 halftime lead.

San Diego State scored 21 final-quarter points to make the margin closer. Muena rushed for 119 yards and scored three touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving) while filling in for injured Ronnie Hillman, the nation’s second-leading rusher. Hillman attempted to play with a sprained ankle and carried only three times for eight yards.

Shoemaker had 10 receptions for 130 yards and has 14 touchdown receptions to tie the Boise State single-season record set by Austin Pettis in 2009.
