Kellen Moore threw three touchdown passes and tied Colt McCoy’s career victories record as No. 7 Boise State defeated visiting Air Force 37-26 on Saturday.

Doug Martin scored two touchdowns as Boise State (7-0, 2-0 Mountain West) held off a hard charge by Air Force (3-4, 0-3).

Moore improved to 45-2 as a starter to match the record McCoy set in 2009 for Texas.

The Falcons trailed just 27-20 with 9:47 to play after Asher Clark scored on a 3-yard run to cap an 18-play, 80-yard drive.

Boise State responded with Moore’s 2-yard scoring pass to Martin with 5:07 to play to make it a 14-point margin. But the Falcons pulled within 34-26 on Tim Jefferson’s second rushing touchdown of the game with 3:31 remaining.

Boise State’s Dan Goodale put the game away with a 25-yard field goal with 42 seconds left.

Moore completed 23 of 29 passes for 282 yards and passed former Brigham Young star Ty Detmer for fourth place on the career touchdowns list with 123.

Moore threw a 24-yarder to Tyler Shoemaker in the first quarter and surpassed Detmer in the second quarter when he tossed a 19-yard scoring pass to Matt Miller to give Boise State a 13-7 with 4:57 left in the first half.

Boise State boosted the lead to 20-7 two minutes later when an Air Force fake punt unraveled. Mikel Hunter took an end-around and fumbled the ball with Boise State’s Hunter White scooping up the ball and returning it 16 yards for a touchdown.

Martin also scored on a 15-yard run off a direct snap to give the Broncos a 27-13 lead in the third quarter.

Air Force controlled the ball for over 36 minutes and ran 84 plays to Boise State’s 55.
