Bryant Moniz threw three touchdown passes and the Hawaii defense slowed down Nevada’s Pistol offense enough to upset the No. 21 Wolf Pack 27-21 on Saturday night.

Mana Silva wrapped up the victory for Hawaii by intercepting Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick with 1:39 remaining. The Warriors (5-2) then ran out the clock for their fourth straight victory.

Hawaii sits atop the Western Athletic Conference at 3-0. Nevada (6-1, 1-1) has lost seven straight games in Hawaii since defeating the Warriors in 1948.

Hawaii built a 17-0 halftime lead as Moniz tossed touchdown passes of 6 and 16 yards to Kealoha Pilares in the first quarter. Scott Enos added a 24-yard field goal midway through the second quarter.

Nevada finally got on the scoreboard on Kaepernick’s 1-yard scoring run with 1:24 left in the third quarter.

Enos booted a 31-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to make it 20-7 before Kaepernick tossed an 18-yard scoring pass to Vai Taua with 9:30 left in the game.

Hawaii answered four minutes later when Moniz hit Royce Pollard for an 11-yard touchdown pass before the Wolf Pack again the cut the deficit to six when Mike Ball caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Kaepernick.

Moniz finished 26 of 36 for 287 yards.
