Auburn wiped out a two-touchdown deficit in the second half and Chandler Catanzaro's 31-yard field goal in overtime hooked wide left, lifting Auburn to a 27-24 victory over Clemson on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Wes Byrum hit a 39-yard field goal on Auburn's overtime possession, and Catanzaro's tying 26-yarder was wiped out by a penalty and his second try from five yards back missed. Catanzaro had hit from 42 yards earlier.

Clemson (2-1) outgained Auburn 266-116 in building a 17-3 halftime lead, as Kyle Parker hit running back Jamie Harper for touchdown strikes of 8 and 24 yards. Auburn (3-0) was shut out until Byrum's 35-yard field goal with 2 seconds left in the half.

But quarterback Cam Newton led Auburn on three scoring drives in the third quarter, capping two of them with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Darvin Adams and a 78-yard strike to Terrell Zachary to give the Tigers a 24-17 lead.

Newton completed just one pass for 23 yards in the first half, but he finished 7-of-14 for 203 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions.

Clemson tied it on Andre Ellington's 2-yard run with 12:52 left.

Parker threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns on 20-of-34 passing, and Ellington rushed for 140 yards and a score on 22 carries.

Onterio McCalebb ran for 81 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries for Auburn, which has won 14 consecutive games against Clemson.
