Wisconsin 52, Maryland 7: Melvin Gordon ran 22 times for 122 yards and three touchdowns as the Badgers rolled over the visiting Terrapins in Big Ten play.

Starting quarterback Joel Stave completed 9-of-15 for 155 yards and a pair of scores as Wisconsin (5-2, 2-1 Big Ten) won for the fifth time in six games. Alex Erickson caught five passes for 121 yards and a touchdown while backup quarterback Tanner McEvoy ran 60 yards for another score for the Badgers, who were coming in off a bye week.

Wisconsin limited Maryland to 46 yards rushing on 28 carries and quarterback C.J. Brown went 13-of-29 through the air for only 129 yards. Stefon Diggs caught a 21-yard TD pass from Brown with 57 seconds left in the game for the Terrapins (5-3, 2-2), who came in averaging 35.1 points and saw their five-game road winning streak come to the end.

Maryland failed on fourth down at the Wisconsin 35 and four plays later Gordon ran 6 yards for touchdown to open the scoring before a fake punt set up Rafael Gaglianone’s 36-yard field goal. Following a fumble by the Terrapins at their own 29, Gordon bulled in from the 1-yard line soon after on the first play of the second quarter.

The Badgers held Maryland to 70 total yards in the first half and Gordon capped an 11-play drive with a 3-yard TD run to push Wisconsin’s lead to 24-0 at intermission. Stave connected with Erickson for a 47-yard touchdown on a post pattern and added an 8-yard scoring strike to tight end Sam Arneson in the third quarter.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gordon, who has eclipsed 100 yards rushing in six of seven games in 2014, has registered at least three touchdowns in a game five times in his career and boasts 15 total in his last five contests. … Diggs extended his streak of recording at least one reception in a game to 26 on the touchdown catch. … Wisconsin has held opponents to 10 or fewer points 10 times during the last two seasons – three in 2014.
