Ty Jordan rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns as Utah rallied from a 21-point halftime deficit to defeat Washington State 45-28 in the season finale for both Pacific-12 Conference teams Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jordan scored on a 13-yard touchdown run with 6:29 remaining to break a 28-all tie. Jadon Redding added a 44-yard field goal with 2:37 left and Clark Phillips III returned an interception 36 yards for a score with 2:06 to go to clinch the victory for the Utes (3-2).
Quarterback Drew Lisk Jr., a senior from nearby Draper, Utah, who was seeing his first action of the season, replaced an ineffective Jake Bentley late in the first half and completed 15 of 26 passes for 152 yards. Britain Covey made six receptions for 134 yards and a score.
For Washington State (1-3), Jayden de Laura completed 17 of 28 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for a score. Max Borghi, a preseason all-conference first-team selection, played for the first time in 2020 because of a back injury and carried 10 times for 95 yards and a touchdown.
But Borghi's first fumble in 250 career touches in the fourth quarter led to Jordan's go-ahead score.
Jordan, a freshman, rushed for 147 yards last week against USC and a career-high 167 two weeks ago against Oregon State.
De Laura threw a touchdown pass and rushed for a score in a 30-second span late in the second quarter to give the Cougars a 28-7 advantage.
The Cougars built a 14-0 lead on an 8-yard touchdown run by Borghi and an 11-yard run by Deon McIntosh.
Bentley threw a 91-yard touchdown pass to Covey to pull the Utes within 14-7.
The Cougars then went 75 yards in four plays, with de Laura hitting Jamire Calvin on an 8-yard scoring strike with 1:51 left in the half. Calvin had seven receptions for 104 yards.
Two plays later, Bentley threw an interception that WSU's Jahad Woods returned 36 yards to the 3-yard line. De Laura scored on a bootleg on the next play to make it 28-7.
