DeeJay Dallas ran for three touchdowns and Jarren Williams passed for three scores, leading the host Miami Hurricanes to a 63-0 win over the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.
Miami (1-2), which had gotten off to its first 0-2 start since 1978, celebrated the first win for Manny Diaz as a head coach. Miami is 17-3 in its past 20 home games.
Bethune-Cookman, an FCS program, is 1-1.
Dallas ran 12 times for 108 yards. He ran 10 times for 90 yards and all three of his touchdowns in the first half.
Williams, who has yet to be intercepted in three starts this season, completed 19 of 24 passes for 254 yards.
Miami's Larry Hodges, a freshman tight end, caught the first two touchdown passes of his career. The second of those touchdowns was thrown by N'Kosi Perry, who played his first game this season after being beaten out at quarterback by Williams.
The Hurricanes opened the scoring on their second possession with a 1-yard Dallas run. Dallas made it 14-0 in the second quarter on a much longer run, going 51 yards down the left sideline. Freshman left tackle Zion Nelson's block helped collapse the right side of the Wildcats' defense.
With 57 seconds left in the first half, Dallas gave Miami a 21-0 lead with another 1-yard run. The touchdown was set up by wide receiver Dee Wiggins' 33-yard run on a jet sweep, and tight end Brevin Jordan's catch on fourth-and-1.
Miami caught a break with just 16 seconds left in the half as Bethune-Cookman's Jonathon Thomas fumbled after a hit by cornerback Trajan Bandy. Safety Robert Knowles recovered at the Wildcats' 43.
Two plays later, Miami was in the end zone again as Williams hit K.J. Osborn for a 22-yard touchdown reception.
Miami continued to score in the third quarter as Mike Harley -- in his 27th career collegiate game -- caught his first touchdown pass, a 32-yard reception for a 35-0 lead.
Hodges' 1-yard catch -- his first TD of the day -- gave Miami a 42-0 lead in the final score of the third quarter.
