Nick Starkel threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns and Rakeem Boyd rushed for 122 yards and two scores as Arkansas pulled away late to defeat Colorado State 55-34 in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday.

Marvin Kinsey Jr. ran for 180 yards and a touchdown for the Rams (1-2), who lost starting quarterback Collin Hill to an apparent left-leg injury about midway through the third quarter.

The Razorbacks broke a 34-34 tie by going 68 yards for a touchdown, a 5-yard run by Devwah Whaley, with 8:52 left in the game. They added another score on a 62-yard pass play from Starkel to Cheyenne O'Grady, who broke free from five defenders clinging to him near the sideline.

Arkansas' Ladarrius Bishop recovered Kinsey's fumble and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown to make it 54-34 with 3:31 to play.

Arkansas outgained Colorado State in total yards 520-425.

Boyd's second touchdown, a 4-yard run, gave Arkansas a 34-24 lead about two minutes into the third quarter. The Rams bounced back, scoring on a 21-yard field goal by freshman Cayden Camper and a 75-yard strike from backup quarterback Patrick O'Brien to Dante Wright.

O'Brien (7 of 10, 106 yards, 1 TD) replaced Hill (5-of-8 passing, 1 TD; 1 TD rushing) got hurt on the field-goal drive when he was hit low on a roughing the passer penalty.

The Rams trailed 27-14 until they scored on Hill's 1-yard sneak about midway through the second quarter. After holding the Razorbacks at bay on back-to-back possessions, Camper booted a 46-yard field goal with four seconds left to trim the halftime deficit to 27-24.

The Rams began the explosive first quarter -- which saw the teams combine for 38 points and 428 total yards, 249 by Arkansas -- by scoring on the game's first play from scrimmage.

Kinsey had just enough room up the middle and broke free for a 75-yard touchdown run just 18 seconds into the game.

It took the Razorbacks little time to answer, when Starkel began their first possession with a 38-yard completion to Treylon Burks. Four plays later, the QB hit Trey Knox for a 24-yard touchdown.

The Razorbacks scored on their next four possessions as well, a 14-yard pass to Chase Harrell, Boyd's 59-yard burst through a big hole up the middle, and field goals of 54 and 22 yards by Connor Limpert.
