Quarterback Joshua Dobbs accounted for three touchdowns and Cameron Sutton returned a punt for a score, leading Tennessee to a 53-28 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Volunteers (8-4) closed out the regular season with five straight wins and are headed to a bowl game for a second straight season. Three of Tennessee's four losses came against teams -- Oklahoma, Florida and Alabama -- still alive for a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Dobbs completed 13 of 21 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 93 yards and a score.
Running back Jalen Hurd ran for 120 yards and a touchdown, leading a Vols ground game that racked up 328 yards.
The Commodores (4-8) will not make a bowl for the second straight season under coach Derek Mason.
The Volunteers led 27-14 at halftime, thanks to a 51-yard punt return for a touchdown from Sutton with 4:36 left in the second quarter.
Dobbs opened the scoring with 17-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Von Pearson and added a 6-yard touchdown run later in the first quarter.
Vanderbilt quarterback Kyle Shumur completed 15 of 34 passes for 209 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
