Running back Matthew Dayes rushed for 108 yards on 20 carries and scored one of four rushing touchdowns for North Carolina State in a 38-14 rout of Old Dominion on Saturday in Norfolk, Va.
Wolfpack quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who had only seven incompletions entering Saturday, was 18-for-27 for 179 yards and a 10-yard touchdown pass to tight end-fullback Jaylen Samuels, who led the team with 43 receiving yards.
Brissett, Samuels and running back Shadrach Thornton also had rushing touchdowns for N.C. State (3-0), which totaled 256 yards on the ground. Thornton had 92 yards on 18 carries.
Dayes leads the Wolfpack with 350 yards and six touchdowns through three games.
Monarchs running back Ray Lawry, who led the nation with 438 yards through the first two weeks, was held to 15 yards on 11 carries. Lawry and wide receiver Jonathan Duhart also reeled in a scoring pass.
Old Dominion quarterback Shuler Bentley completed 11-of-23 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns.
The Monarchs (2-1), who were limited to minus-3 rushing yards on 21 attempts, are 0-5 all-time against ACC opponents.
