Washington State 42, Idaho 0: Connor Halliday threw all four of his touchdown passes in the first half as the host Cougars rolled over the neighboring Vandals.

Halliday (31-for-43, 346 yards) exceeded 300 yards for the eighth time in his career as Washington State (3-1) won its third straight game of the season and eighth straight in the series that stretches over a century.

Gabe Marks caught a career-best 11 passes for 146 yards, including scores from 1 and 43 yards out. Halliday also threw a 30-yard scoring pass to Dom Williams and a 20-yarder to Vince Mayle as the Cougars took a 28-0 lead into halftime.

Still looking to give first-year coach Paul Petrino his first victory, Idaho (0-4) couldn't take advantage of three Cougars' turnovers in the third quarter. The desperate Vandals even tried to convert a fourth-and-2 from their own 20 with 3:03 to play in the third quarter but had a pass attempt broken up. Washington State's Jeremiah Laufasa scored from 13 yards out two plays later.

Laufasa capped the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 3-yard run. The Vandals have surrendered at least 40 points in every game this season. Washington State used a goal-line stand in the final minute to preserve its first shutout since 2003 (also against Idaho).

GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington State had 19 yards rushing in the first half and finished with 71 yards on the ground. ...Idaho freshman kicker Austin Rehkow, who made a 67-yard field goal in high school last year, missed a 45-yarder in the fourth quarter. ...Petrino and Washington State coach Mike Leach exchanged heated words following their postgame handshake.
