Iowa 27, Iowa State 21: Jake Rudock threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the visiting Hawkeyes held off a late comeback by the Cyclones in the latest edition of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.

Mark Weisman led a punishing ground game with 145 yards on 35 carries as Iowa (2-1) ended Iowa State's run of two straight wins in the series. Kevonte Martin-Manley had seven catches for 60 yards and a score for the Hawkeyes, who controlled the ball for over 38 minutes.

Iowa State quarterback Sam Richardson threw three scoring passes to Quenton Bundrage, including two in a span of 2:01 to cut the deficit to 27-21 with 2:26 to play. Richardson finished 21-for-38 with three TDs and two interceptions and Bundrage had six catches for 141 yards.

Rudock, who completed 14-of-23 for 160 yards and two scores, directed a pair of long scoring drives after Richardson's first scoring strike to Bundrage, a 67-yarder that brought the Cyclones (0-2) within 13-7 with 5:28 left in the third quarter.

Rudock capped a nine-play, 60-yard march with a 26-yard pass to Jacob Hillyer to stretch the lead to 20-7 in the final minute of the third. Iowa extended the advantage to 27-7 midway through the fourth when Rudock plunged in from the 1 to finish a 15-play drive that ate up more than 7 1/2 minutes and featured 14 runs - eight by Weisman.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Weisman registered his seventh career 100-yard game and became the first Iowa back to open the season with three straight 100-yard contests since Shonn Greene in 2008. ... Iowa State backup C Jamison Lalk, who was filling in for injured starter Tom Farniok, hurt his left knee in the first half and did not return. ... Hillyer's scoring reception was the first touchdown and the longest catch of his career.
