No. 16 UCLA 38, No. 21 Southern California 28: Johnathan Franklin rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns as the host Bruins beat the Trojans to clinch the South Division crown and a spot in the Pac-12 championship game.

Brett Hundley rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another as UCLA (9-2, 6-2) avenged last season’s 50-0 loss to USC (7-4, 5-4) while beating the Trojans for only the second time in the last 14 meetings.

UCLA built a 24-0 lead and its defense intercepted Matt Barkley two times en route to its five consecutive victory. After the Trojans rallied to within 31-28, Franklin broke loose on a 29-yard scamper down the right sideline and the Bruins completed the milestone victory under first-year coach Jim Mora.

The Bruins roared to a 24-point lead while dominating the first 22 1/2 minutes. Hundley scored on a 1-yard run just 81 seconds into the contest and his 17-yard scoring strike to Joseph Fauria made it 17-0 with 1:34 left in the opening quarter. Franklin scored on a 16-yard run with 7:38 left in the half.

USC got back into the game with 20 consecutive points. Barkley threw second-quarter touchdowns passes of 33 yards to Nelson Agholor and 2 yards to Randall Telfer and the Trojans cut their deficit to four when an errant UCLA snap in a pouring rain led to the ball rolling back to the end zone where George Uko fell on it for a touchdown.

GAME NOTEBOOK: UCLA has six blocked kicks in the last two games. Eric Kendricks blocked a punt in the third quarter and Sheldon Price blocked a field goal with 1:31 to play when USC was attempting to make it a one-score game. … Barkley has thrown 15 interceptions this season, including nine over USC’s past four games. He passed for 301 yards but left the game late in the fourth quarter with an apparent shoulder injury after being sacked by UCLA’s Anthony Barr. … Franklin topped 100 yards for the eighth time this season and became the first UCLA back to top 4,000 career rushing yards. He has 4,110 yards.
