No. 3 Kansas State 23, Texas Christian 10: Quarterback Collin Klein ran for a pair of touchdowns to keep the visiting Wildcats undefeated and poised to take over the top spot in the BCS rankings.

Klein, who was knocked out of last week's win with an injury, scored on runs of 7 and 34 yards in a workmanlike victory as Kansas State (10-0, 7-0 Big 12) matched the best start in school history.

With top-ranked Alabama losing to Texas A&M on Saturday, it opened the door for the Wildcats to move up one slot from their current No. 2 when the BCS standings are released Sunday night.

Klein threw for only 145 yards on 12-of-21 passing, including a 62-yard pass to Chris Harper to set up his first touchdown run midway through the opening quarter. Anthony Cantele kicked two of his three field goals to give Kansas State a 13-0 halftime edge.

The Wildcats opened a commanding 20-0 lead when Klein burst up the middle and cut down the left sideline for a 34-yard score with 8:21 left in the third quarter. It was his 52nd career rushing touchdown, fourth-most by a Division I quarterback.

TCU (6-4, 3-4) averted its first shutout in 21 years on Jaden Oberkrom's 35-yard field goal with 6:59 to play and got a 19-yard touchdown pass from Trevone Boykin to Brandon Carter with 47 seconds left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Boykin sat out most of the second quarter with an apparent shoulder injury. He finished 17-of-30 for 164 yards with one touchdown and an interception. ... Klein became the sixth player in Big 12 history to throw for 4,000 yards and rush for 2,000 in a career. Current Washington Redskins rookie QB Robert Griffin III was the last to do it. ... TCU's last-minute touchdown marked the first points allowed by Kansas State off a turnover this season.
