Georgia Tech 33, Maryland 13:
Quarterbacks Vad Lee and Tevin Washington combined to rush for three touchdowns as the visiting Yellow Jackets shut down the Terrapins, who started a freshman linebacker at quarterback.

With four quarterbacks out with season-ending injuries, Maryland turned to Shawn Petty, who played quarterback in high school but was recruited to play defense in college. He was 9-for-18 for 115 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, starting the game 1-for-6 for one yard in the first half.

The Yellow Jackets (4-5, 3-3 ACC) outgained the Terrapins 205-61 in the first half - 174-60 on the ground - en route to a 20-0 lead. Washington's 16th touchdown of the season - a 1-yard dive - came with 2:12 left in the first quarter and Lee's first TD of the game - a 2-yarder - made it 20-0 with 8:47 left in the half.

Orwin Smith carried 10 times for 89 yards and a touchdown and Robert Godhigh added a 5-yard touchdown run with 3:26 left in the third quarter to make it 27-0. Lee's second 2-yard score came 5:26 into the fourth quarter as the Yellow Jackets and the nation's No. 4 rushing offense (311.8 yards per game entering Saturday) dominated the country's No. 4 run defense (77.6) with 370 yards.

Freshman Stefon Diggs caught two touchdown passes for Maryland (4-5, 2-3), which lost to Georgia Tech for the fifth time in the last six meetings. Diggs, who had 11 catches for 152 yards and a touchdown last week, had five for 55 on Saturday, including a 23-yard score on the final play of the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Petty split time at QB with freshman RB Wes Brown, who was used mostly to run the "Wild Crab" offense - Maryland's version of the Wildcat. Brown did not play in the second half because of an apparent foot injury. ... Georgia Tech intercepted a pass for the eighth straight game. ... The Yellow Jackets held Maryland scoreless in a half for the first time since 2003.
