Collin Klein accounted for seven touchdowns and passed for a career-best 323 yards as the visiting Wildcats routed the Mountaineers in Big 12 play.

Klein rushed for four touchdowns and passed for a career-high three as Kansas State (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) scored the first 24 points and was never threatened while handing West Virginia (5-2, 2-2) its second consecutive defeat.

Klein threw touchdown passes of 10 and 20 yards to Tyler Lockett, who had nine receptions for a career-best 194 yards. He also tossed a 21-yard scoring pass to Chris Harper while completing 19 of 21 passes and rushing for 41 yards.

West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith passed for a season-low 143 yards, threw his first two interceptions of the campaign and didn’t get the Mountaineers into the end zone until hitting Tavon Austin on a 5-yard scoring pass with 7:31 remaining. Smith set a single-season record with 273 attempts without an interception before Kansas State’s Arthur Brown picked off his first pass of the second half.

West Virginia’s only points over the first three quarters came on a 100-yard kickoff return by Austin.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Klein has rushed for a school-record 47 career touchdowns, surpassing the 45 scored by Darren Sproles (2001-04). … Fresno State’s Trent Dilfer (1993) held the mark of 271 attempts without an interception. … Kansas State has won four straight road games against ranked squads for the first time in school history.
