Oklahoma State 20, Kansas 14: J.W. Walsh threw one touchdown pass and ran for another as the Cowboys survived a fourth-quarter rally and handed the host Jayhawks their 15th consecutive conference loss, the longest active streak in the country.
Walsh connected on a 72-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Moore in the third quarter and had a 4-yard touchdown run in the first, and Quinn Sharp kicked field goals of 42 and 49 yards as Oklahoma State (3-2, 1-1 Big 12) took a 20-0 lead less than a minute into the fourth quarter.
Kansas (1-5, 0-3) scored on consecutive drives after freshman quarterback Michael Cummings replaced starter Dayne Crist. Cummings threw a 21-yard touchdown – the first of his career – to Jimmay Mundine, followed by a 30-yard touchdown run from James Sims with 8:52 left. The Jayhawks, who were 0-for-5 on fourth down, failed to convert on their final drive.
Walsh, a freshman in his second start in place of injured Wes Lunt, completed 18 of 29 passes for 255 yards.
Sims ran for 138 yards for the Jayhawks.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Oklahoma State, the nation's top-ranked offense, failed to convert in the red zone for the first time this season. … The Cowboys had scored 30 points or more in 22 consecutive games, tying an NCAA record. … Kansas fell below .500 all-time (573-574-58) for this first time since 1891, its first season.
