Virginia Tech 41, Duke 20: Logan Thomas threw a pair of touchdown passes to Marcus Davis and freshman J.C. Coleman rushed for 183 yards - 131 on a pair of touchdown runs - as the host Hokies scored the final 41 points en route to their 12th straight victory over the Blue Devils.

Virginia Tech (4-3, 1-2 ACC), which was .500 after six games for the first time in 20 years, held Duke (5-2, 2-1) to 329 yards one week after yielding 533 in a 48-34 loss at North Carolina. The Hokies, who entered the game with eight sacks this season, recorded four Saturday and forced four turnovers.

Thomas' first scoring strike to Davis, a 42-yarder with 19 seconds left in the first half, pulled the Hokies within 20-17. The second, a 47-yard TD toss, followed Coleman's 45-yard touchdown run and put Virginia Tech ahead 31-20 with 6:55 left in the third quarter. Coleman sealed it with an 86-yard touchdown run in the fourth.

Davis finished with five receptions for 144 yards. Thomas, who entered the game completing only 52.9 percent of his passes, was 14-of-23 (60.8 percent) for 255 yards with an interception.

Quarterback Sean Renfree was 20-of-33 for 235 yards - including a 62-yard touchdown pass to Jamison Crowder - and two interceptions for Duke, which has never won in seven tries at Blacksburg. Connor Vernon, who became the ACC's all-time reception leader last week, was held to four catches for 70 yards.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Duke K Ross Martin has 59 points, a school record by a freshman. WR Corey Thomas scored 54 in 1994. ... Duke's third QB - Brandon Connette - suffered a shoulder injury in the first quarter and did not return. He has five rushing touchdowns and only 23 carries this season. ... Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer tied Tom Osborne for seventh all-time among FBS coaches with 255 wins.
