Arkansas 24, Auburn 7: Defensive end Trey Flowers had 3 1/2 of Arkansas’ eight sacks and the visiting Razorbacks pulled off a trick play for a fourth-quarter touchdown to snap their four-game skid.
Arkansas (2-4, 1-2 SEC) led 10-7 early in the fourth when wideout Brandon Mitchell, taking a reverse pitch, stopped and threw 26 yards to Javontee Herndon for the back-breaking touchdown. Auburn (1-4, 0-3 SEC) committed five turnovers and could not get its offense going despite a halftime quarterback switch from sophomore quarterback Kiehl Frazier to junior Clint Moseley.
Arkansas has won five of the past seven meetings.
The Razorbacks dominated the first quarter with two long drives. Dennis Johnson capped the second one, an 80-yarder, with a 2-yard touchdown run to give his team a 7-0 lead. When Auburn wideout Emory Blake fumbled in the second quarter, Arkansas got its first takeaway in four weeks. The Razorbacks capitalized with Zach Hocker’s 27-yard field goal, pushing their lead to 10-0.
Moseley hit Blake for a 21-yard touchdown late in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 10-7, but the offense did no more damage against a defense that came in ranked last in the SEC in points allowed (40.6).
