No. 17 Florida 37, Tennessee 20: Trey Burton ran for a pair of touchdowns and sophomore quarterback Jeff Driskel accounted for 300 yards of total offense as the Gators won a crucial Southeastern Conference game on the road.

Florida (3-0, 2-0) scored the final 24 points, chipping away at and eventually overwhelming Tennessee’s early lead to defeat the Volunteers (2-1, 0-1) for the eighth straight time.

Tennessee led 20-13 when linebacker A.J. Johnson scored on a 1-yard blast running from the wildcat formation.

The Gators, who defeated Texas A&M on the road last week, then seized control. Florida repeatedly ripped off chunks of big yardage, including Burton’s 80-yard scoring jaunt and a 75-yard catch-and-run connection from Driskel to Frankie Hammond.

Driskel finished 14 of 20 through the air with 219 passing yards and two scores. He also ran for 81 yards on eight carries. Tennessee was led by Tyler Bray’s 257 yards on 22 for 44 passing with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The team with the most rushing yards has won ten straight and 21 of the last 23 in the series. Florida outgained Tennessee 336-83 on the ground Saturday. … The Volunteers have averaged only 51 yards rushing in the last eight meetings. ... Florida’s Mike Gillislee entered game as the SEC’s leading rusher and finished with 115 yards on 18 carries.
