Zac Stacy scored two of his three touchdowns during a second-quarter outburst as Vanderbilt became bowl eligible with a 41-7 victory at Wake Forest.
Stacy, who rushed for 184 yards on 28 carries, gave the Commodores (6-6) the lead for good with his first score, a 1-yard run with 6:55 to go in the half. Jordan Rodgers hit Brandon Barden for a 73-yard touchdown pass less than two minutes later, and Stacy extended Vanderbilt's lead to 27-7 with a 20-yard scoring jaunt just 37 seconds before intermission.
The Demon Deacons (6-6) totaled 329 yards and picked up 17 first downs, but they stalled at critical times, converting just six of 16 third downs. Wake Forest was unable to get the Vanderbilt offense off the field, yielding 297 yards rushing.
Rodgers was just 7-for-15 passing for 139 yards, but he gained 90 yards on 18 rushes. Terence Davis scored the lone Wake Forest touchdown on a 10-yard pass from Tanner Price in the second quarter.
Stacy capped the scoring for Vanderbilt with a 40-yard run in the fourth period.
