Terrance Parks returned one of Florida State’s four interceptions for a touchdown and the Seminoles’ defense carried them to a 21-7 victory over host Florida on Saturday.

Greg Reid had a pair of interceptions and Devonta Freeman had two short touchdown runs for the Seminoles (8-5).

Florida State scored all of its points off turnovers and ended a three-game losing streak in Gainesville despite managing only 100 yards and nine first downs.

The Seminoles defeated Miami and Florida in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1998-99.

There was very little hype leading up to what was once one of the nation’s premier rivalries, and for good reason. This was the first time since 1986 that neither team was ranked.

And it certainly wasn’t one for the ages, especially if you are a Florida fan. Quinton Dunbar’s 6-yard touchdown reception with 4:16 left helped the Gators (6-6) avoid being shut out for the first time since 1988.

Florida State wasn’t much better offensively, but its relentless defense more than made up for the shortcomings. Parks’ 29-yard interception return of freshman backup Jacoby Brissett gave the Seminoles a 21-0 lead early in the fourth.

Brissett was 5-of-14 for 30 yards in place of senior John Brantley, who threw three interceptions before being knocked out late in the first half with a possible concussion.

Thanks to Brantley’s miscues, Florida State led 14-0 at halftime despite being outgained 140-39.
