Jonas Gray rushed for 136 yards to lead a well-rounded offensive assault as Notre Dame coasted to a 45-21 victory over Maryland in Landover, Md. on Saturday.
After Gray made it 24-7 by ending the first half with his second 1-yard touchdown run, the Fighting Irish (7-3) put the game away early in the third period when Cierre Wood's 3-yard run capped a 14-play, 84-yard scoring march.
Lo Wood followed with a 57-yard interception return that stretched the lead to 38-7 with 7:18 to go in the quarter.
The Terrapins (2-8), who lost their sixth consecutive game, totaled 63 yards of offense on their first five possessions, which all ended with punts.
Tommy Rees was 30-of-37 passing for 296 yards with touchdown passes of 19 and 34 yards to Michael Floyd and Tyler Eifert, respectively. Wood finished with 99 yards rushing.
