LaMichael James rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns and No. 6 Oregon ended the nation’s longest winning streak at 17 games with a 53-30 victory over No. 2 Stanford on Saturday at Stanford, Calif.

James had only 12 yards rushing in the first quarter, but the nation’s leading rusher announced his arrival with a 58-yard touchdown run early in the second.

Oregon (9-1, 7-0 Pac-12 North) never trailed against Stanford (9-1, 7-1 Pac-12 North), which has lost nine of the last 10 meetings.

Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck was 27-of-41 for 271 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions, and moved into second place in school history with 74 career passing touchdowns.

In the first matchup of top 10 teams at Stanford Stadium, Oregon crushed Stanford’s national title hopes with a dominant fourth quarter. The Ducks clinched the win on Boseko Lokombo’s 40-yard interception return for a touchdown with 5:02 left.

Stanford running back Stepfan Taylor had 23 carries for 99 yards, but the Cardinal were outgained on the ground 217-133.

While James led the Ducks’ rushing attack, quarterback Darron Thomas threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns.

James’ 46 career rushing touchdowns tied him with Jacquizz Rodgers for fifth in Pac-12 history.
