Collin Klein rushed for three touchdowns and No. 18 Kansas State used a number of key plays on special teams and defense to beat host Texas Tech 41-34 on Saturday.

Klein has six rushing touchdowns in the last two games and 10 this season as the Wildcats are off to a 6-0 start for the first time since 2000 and are 3-0 in the Big 12 Conference.

After falling behind 41-31, Texas Tech kicked a field goal with 2:32 left in the game to cut it to seven and then recovered an onside kick, but the Red Raiders’ last-minute attempt to tie the game sputtered when they failed to get a first down,

Texas Tech (4-2, 1-2) led 28-20 at the half but failed to take advantage of a stagnant Kansas State offense. The Red Raiders outgained the Wildcats 388-94 in the first half, but Kansas State stayed close with key plays on defense and special teams.

Raphael Guidry blocked two Texas Tech field goals, Nigel Malone ran an interception back 24 yards for a touchdown, and Tyler Lockett returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score to help an offense that couldn’t get anything going for the first 30 minutes.

After the break, Kansas State’s offense found its rhythm. Klein scored on two 1-yard plunges, and the Wildcats’ defense picked off Seth Doege twice in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.

Doege entered the game with only one interception this season but was picked off three times in the Red Raiders’ first loss to the Wildcats in the last six meetings.
