Nebraska overcame a sluggish first half with the largest comeback in school history - led by Taylor Martinez and Rex Burkhead - for a thrilling 34-27 victory over visiting Ohio State on Saturday.

The No. 15 Huskers (5-1, 1-1 Big Ten), who avoided going 0-2 in conference play for the first time since 1968, overcame a 21-point deficit in the third quarter and scored the final 28 points.

Ohio State (3-3, 0-2) managed only 104 yards in the second half and fell to 0-2 in conference play for the first time since 2004.

Burkhead's 30-yard touchdown catch from Martinez tied the game at 27 with 7:35 to go and Burkhead's 17-yard run with 5:10 left completed the comeback.

Nebraska, which finished with 423 yards, managed only 114 in the first half as Ohio State’s 13th-ranked defense dominated en route to a 20-6 halftime lead.

Following Carlos Hyde’s second scoring run of the game on the Buckeyes’ first drive of the third to stretch the lead to 21 points, Martinez answered with an 18-yard touchdown run on the ensuing possession.

Nebraska seized momentum on the next drive when Lavonte David stripped quarterback Braxton Miller of the ball, a play that also ended Miller’s day with an ankle injury. Joe Bauserman came on to replace the freshman signal-caller and was ineffective, completing 1-of-10 passes with an interception.

Martinez's 36-yard touchdown pass to Quincy Enunwa made it 27-20.
