BOXSCORE | RECAP
Kansas State 24, Missouri 17
When: 3:30 PM ET, Saturday, October 8, 2011
Where: Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Manhattan, Kansas
Temperature: 71°
Head Official: Randy Christal

Behind a ball-control offense and a steady defense, No. 20 Kansas State remained unbeaten with a 24-17 victory over Missouri at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Collin Klein had three rushing touchdowns for the Wildcats, who improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2000, when they began the season with six straight wins en route to an 11-3 record. The win was also Kansas State’s first against Missouri since 2005, snapping a five-game losing streak.

The Wildcats (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) took a 10-3 halftime lead as Missouri sputtered offensively. The bad omens started early, as James Franklin threw an interception on the first play of the game. Six plays later, Klein scored on a 2-yard run.

Kansas State stretched the advantage to 24-3 on a pair of Klein touchdown runs — including a 1-yard score early in the fourth — before Missouri got itself back in the game.

Henry Josey ran for a 2-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter and then, following a Kansas State three-and-out, the Tigers drove 74 yards and scored on Franklin's 1-yard run to pull within 24-17 with 5:05 remaining.

But the Tigers (2-3, 0-2 Big 12) never saw the ball again. John Hubert had 41 of his game-high 126 rushing yards on the final drive as K-State picked up three first downs and ran out the clock.

The loss was Missouri’s third straight after a 2-0 start. The Tigers outgained Kansas State 326-286, but the Wildcats held possession for nearly 39 minutes.

Klein finished 11-of-16 for 112 passing yards.
