Brandon Weeden threw five touchdown passes, all in the first half, as No. 7 Oklahoma State tied a school record for points scored in a 70-28 blowout victory over Kansas on Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.
The Cowboys (5-0, 2-0 Big 12), who improved to 5-0 for the second consecutive season, scored 35 first-quarter points and led 56-7 at the half. Oklahoma State scored on all eight of its first-half possessions and racked up 383 yards against the Jayhawks, who had four turnovers before halftime.
The 35 first-quarter points tied the school record for most points in a quarter set in 1973.
Weeden finished 24-of-28 for 288 passing yards before calling it a day at the half. Two of his passing touchdowns were caught by Justin Blackmon, who finished with eight catches for 84 yards.
Kansas (2-3, 0-2 Big 12), meanwhile, lost its 11th straight road game and gave up 40 or more points for the fourth consecutive game. The Jayhawks have lost three straight after a 2-0 start.
Oklahoma State improved to 31-12 under coach Mike Gundy and improved to 2-0 in the Big 12 for the fourth straight year.
Hubert Anyiam finished with five receptions for 85 yards and two touchdowns for Oklahoma State, which has scored 50 or more points in three of its five games.
Jordan Webb went 25-of-36 for 316 yards, two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions for Kansas, who fell to 3-13 all-time in Big 12 openers.
