Jeff Scott and Brandon Bolden rushed for two touchdowns apiece, and Mississippi snapped a two-game losing streak with a 38-28 victory over host Fresno State on Saturday.

Scott, who ran for 139 yards, scored the go-ahead touchdown in the final quarter and the Rebels (2-3) played keep away for most of the period to halt Fresno State’s two-game winning streak.

The Bulldogs (2-3) ran only three offensive plays over the first 11-plus minutes of the final quarter after taking a one-point lead into the period.

Scott scored on a 12-yard run to culminate a 14-play drive and Randall Mackey hit Donte Moncrief on a two-point conversion toss as Mississippi took a 35-28 lead with 8:49 to play. Fresno State was expecting pass on third-and-9 when the Rebels crossed up the Bulldogs with a handoff to Scott, who scampered to his left and narrowly scooted into the end zone.

After the Rebels forced a three-and-out, Bryson Rose booted a 24-yard field to give Ole Miss a 10-point edge with 3:42 remaining.

Earlier, Scott scored on an electrifying 69-yard run down the right sideline to give Ole Miss a 27-21 lead with 11:15 left in the third quarter.

Fresno State took a 28-27 lead five minutes later on Derek Carr’s 1-yard run.

Bolden scored on runs of 21 and 12 yards as Ole Miss took a 20-14 halftime lead. Mackey made his first start of the season and tossed a 22-yard scoring pass to Melvin Harris in the opening quarter.

Fresno State also scored on Carr's 2-yard pass to Rashad Evans, Jalen Saunders' 26-yard reverse and Robbie Rouse's 7-yard run.
