Greg McElroy threw a pair of touchdown passes and Alabama's stars found different ways to shine, as the Crimson Tide ended Mississippi State's six-game winning streak with a 30-10 home victory Saturday.
After the teams traded field goals in the opening quarter, the Crimson Tide (8-2, 5-2 SEC) scored 27 consecutive points.
The Bulldogs (7-3, 3-3 SEC) did a nice job of limiting Alabama stars Mark Ingram and Julio Jones in their ordinary roles, but they found other ways to make an impact.
Ingram had only 53 rushing yards on 18 carries, but he caught a 78-yard touchdown pass from McElroy, and Jones was held to three receptions for 41 yards, but he scored on a 56-yard run on an end-around.
McElroy completed 12 of 18 passes for 227 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Marquis Maze led Alabama's receivers with five catches for 89 yards and a score.
The Bulldogs finally broke their scoring drought when Tyler Russell hit Chad Bumphis for a 27-yard touchdown pass with 8:08 left in the game.
Vick Ballard rushed for 80 yards on 19 carries to lead Mississippi State's ground game, but Alabama held the Bulldogs to 149 rushing yards, breaking their streak of five consecutive games with 200 yards or more on the ground.
