Welcome to the BCS title talk, TCU.
Fourth-ranked TCU cruised to a 47-7 victory over fifth-ranked Utah, and made a major statement as a legitimate title contender.
The Horned Frogs racked up more than 500 yards of total offense, including 356 passing yards and three touchdowns from Andy Dalton.
TCU got off to an quick start on the road in a hostile environment. Dalton threw two touchdown passes to start the game, and then Jeremy Kerley added a 26-yard touchdown strike out of the wildcat formation to give the Frogs an early 21-0 lead in the first quarter.
TCU (10-0, 6-0 Mountain West) ended up scoring 40 straight points before Utah (8-1, 5-1) got on the board. The Utes avoided the shutout when Jordan Wynn hooked up with Matt Asiata on a 19-yard touchdown pass with 11:51 left in the game.
By then, though, the game was clearly in TCU’s hands. Frogs wide receiver Josh Boyce finished with two touchdown receptions, including a 93-yarder in the first quarter, and running back Ed Wesley had one rushing score.
The TCU defense has held conference opponents to single digits in every game. It was the lowest point total for Utah all season.
