Rob Henry ran for three touchdowns and passed for another, leading Purdue to a 28-17 win over Minnesota in a Big Ten game Saturday.

The defeat, which dropped Minnesota to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference, came a day after a Minneapolis television station reported coach Tim Brewster would be fired if the Gophers lost the game.

Henry, a redshirt freshman, led the host Boilermakers, who are on top of the Big Ten with a 2-0 record. He ran for a 4-yard score in the first quarter and a 1-yard score in the second period that gave Purdue (4-2) a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Henry hit Antavian Edison for a 20-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter.

Gophers quarterback Adam Weber threw two touchdown passes. He completed 20-of-45 passes for 214 yards and threw two interceptions.

Eric Ellestad's 35-yard field goal with 5:05 left in the third period finally got the Gophers on the board.

Weber hit Bryant Allen with an 11-yard scoring pass early in the fourth quarter. The Gophers failed on a two-point conversion and trailed 21-9, but Henry answered with a 3-yard touchdown with 7:18 left in the game.

Weber threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Da'Jon McKnight and hit Marqueis Gray with the two-point conversion with 3:08 to play in the game.

Henry completed 13-of-20 passes for 163 yards. Dan Dierking gained 126 yards on 12 carries for Purdue.
