Texas still owns Nebraska.

The Longhorns out-executed, out-hustled and out-scored the fourth-ranked Cornhuskers 20-13 in possibly the final Big 12 matchup between the two teams. Nebraska exits the league next year with a 1-9 record against the Longhorns.

Texas quarterback Garret Gilbert out-played his much ballyhooed counterpart Taylor Martinez. Gilbert rushed for two touchdowns and led a ground attack that humbled the Nebraska defense in amassing 209 yards.

The Longhorns opened the scoring with a 27-yard field goal four minutes into the game. Two minutes later, they cashed in a Husker turnover on a 3-yard touchdown run by Gilbert. Texas led 10-0 at the end of the first.

Gilbert tacked on another rushing touchdown midway through the second, and the Longhorns led 17-3 going into the half.

The Huskers were plagued by dropped balls and penalties throughout the day, dropping nine passes, and fumbling five times - losing one. Martinez was ineffective against the Texas defense, and was pulled in the third quarter for 2009 starter Zac Lee.

A late 95-yard punt return by Eric Hagg made the game close, but the Huskers weren’t able to inch any closer the rest of the way.

Texas turns their attention to Iowa State next week. Nebraska travels to undefeated and 18th-ranked Oklahoma State.
