Brandon Weeden threw five touchdown passes and No. 21 Oklahoma State overcame a deficit at the half to post a 54-28 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday night.

Hitting the road for the first time this season, the Cowboys (5-0) used a big second half to remain unbeaten heading into Big 12 Conference play.

Oklahoma State came into the game with the nation’s No. 2 scoring offense (52.25 points per game) and was facing a defense that was allowing allowing 35 points and more than 400 yards per game. Weeden and company took advantage of that matchup, especially in the second half when the Cowboys outscored the Ragin’ Cajuns 37-7.

Trailing 21-17 at the half, Oklahoma State scored 21 straight points to open the third quarter. Kendall Hunter gave the Cowboys a 24-21 lead with a two-yard touchdown run and Weeden extended the lead to 38-21 with a 24-yard scoring strike to Michael Harrison and a 22-yard touchdown pass to Hubert Anyiam.

Kendall Hunter rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries for the Cowboys, who face Texas Tech next week and then host Nebraska in what could be a huge Big 12 showdown.

Junior quarterback Chris Masson completed 33-of-57 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns for Louisiana-Lafayette. He threw both of his touchdown passes in the second quarter as the Ragin’ Cajuns outscored the cowboys 21-7 to take the lead at the half.

The Cowboys are now 7-0 against the Cajuns, who fell to 1-19 against teams from BCS conferences under coach Ricky Bustle. Its only win came against Kansas State last season.
