Jordan Wynn came back and looked like he never left.
Wynn threw a pair of touchdown passes and No. 13 Utah overwhelmed San Jose State defensively in a 56-3 victory on Saturday.
Wynn had been out since injuring the thumb on his throwing hand in
Utah's season-opening overtime victory over Pittsburgh. Terrance Cain
has filled in and led Utah (4-0) to a pair of easy victories, but it
was Wynn's show against the Spartans.
Reggie Dunn ripped off a 43-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to put Utah ahead 7-0 and then Wynn got going.
He threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Asiata and a 36-yarder
to Dallin Rogers in the second quarter to help the Utes open up a 35-3
lead at the half. wynn completed 14-of-18 passes for 124 yards.
Utah's defense never allowed San Jose State to get anything going.
The Spartans (1-3) picked up just six first downs and 170 yards and
were outscored by the Utes' defense as Jordan La Secla blocked a punt
and Reggie Topps returned it 10 yards to give Utah a 21-3 lead in
the second quarter.
Lamon Muldrow rushed for 58 yards on 10 carries for the Spartans, who were 1-for-12 on third-down conversions.
