Adam Robinson rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and Ricky Stanzi passed for 287 yards and three touchdowns in Iowa's 45-0 win Saturday over Ball State.
Robinson carried 22 times, including a couple of 1-yard touchdown runs, as the 18th-ranked Hawkeyes (3-1) regrouped after last week’s heartbreaking loss at Arizona.
Stanzi completed 19 of 25 passes, including two touchdown passes to Derrell Johnson-Koulianos. Iowa’s offense rolled up 561 yards and the defense held Ball State to only 113.
The Hawkeyes scored two touchdowns in each of the second and third quarters to pull away.
After Robinson scored from the 1 for a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter, Stanzi threw 8 yards to Keenan Davis and 22 yards to Johnson-Koulianos for a 21-0 halftime lead. In the third, Robinson scored again from the 1, and Stanzi hit Johnson-Koulianos over the middle for a 45-yard touchdown and a 35-0 lead.
After that, the reserves came in, with Stanzi’s backup James Vandenberg hitting Colin Sandeman for a 6-yard score. Michael Meyer added a 25-yard field goal to close the scoring.
The Cardinals fell to 1-3.
